Overview		 MPEG-4 is a new standard of video compression that is both high quality and low bitrate. They are usually only a fraction (around 15%) of the size of a standard DVD, even at 640x480 resolutions, making them the best home video format thus far.
They only take half the time to encode, and yet at the same time is smaller in size than MPEG-1 - due to their incredible compression technology - some have even called MPEG-4 the "MP3 of the video world". Quality ranges from net-streaming quality to DVD and better !!

Codebase		 The new Player was rebuilt from the ground up on a new architecture and codebase. The main benefit to users is increased performance-greater stability and fewer crashes. The new build also makes the player more extensible, and easier to port to other architectures and operating systems. This new architecture allows us to add new major new features to the Player more rapidly than in the past, increasing flexibility and bringing cool new innovations to our users in a timely manner.

Support		 The new DivX 5.0 codec is fully MPEG-4 compatible and able to playback videos that are MPEG-4 Simple Profile and Advanced Simple Profile compatible. The new Player inherits this capability and is also able to playback fully MPEG-4 compatible video files. It also includes support for the new DivX® MPEG-4 based file format, meaning version 2.0 Alpha is now able to player completely MPEG-4 compatible DivX® video files

Skin
System		 Among the most popular features of DivX Player 2.0 Alpha is a brand new and much improved interface skin system. The new skin system is compatible with old Playa skins, so if you have a favorite skin, you can keep using it. But the new skin system is significantly more advanced and it allows for lots of cool new features, including transparency, non-rectangular windows (in fact, any shape windows), custom-designed bitmap fonts, multiple windows (you can design your own windows that pop-up with a set of favorite controls), sliding interface panels, and a whole lot more.
